What is print design?

Textile print design is an art form that combines creativity, precision, and functionality. It involves the creation of patterns and motifs that are applied onto fabrics, transforming them into visually captivating and distinct pieces.

From bold and vibrant designs to delicate and intricate patterns, textile print design has the power to evoke emotions and tell stories through its visual language. Designers carefully consider color palettes, scale, and composition to ensure that their prints enhance the overall aesthetics of the fabric. Furthermore, textile print design plays a vital role in fashion, interior decor, and even branding, as it adds character and uniqueness to any space or garment. With an array of techniques and technologies at their disposal, textile print designers continue to push boundaries, bringing innovation and artistry to the world of textiles.

Lotta Lorier’s fashion prints are based on her hand painted artworks. To preserve the hand painted qualities in the print the seamless repeating prints are created in the design software Photoshop and in RGB color mode. This makes the full color watercolor prints most suitable for digital printing or sublimation printing but if needed the colors of a print can also be indexed for screen printing.
